How To Advise Your Clients On Quickly Removing Dispute Notations

Dispute notations are the result of an account being disputed with either the creditor or the credit bureaus. Unfortunately, dispute notations can linger on a credit report even after the client’s dispute has ended, creating headaches for your team.

If you ever run into this situation, here are the instructions needed to help your client quickly get them removed from the credit report:

Step One: Make a list of the accounts in dispute and have their associated account numbers available.

Step Two: Call each credit bureau at the numbers listed below:

Equifax: 800-203-7843

Experian: 800-493-1058

TransUnion: 800-916-8800

Step Three: Ask for a supervisor and request that the dispute remarks be removed from the credit report.

Normally, you will see dispute notations removed within a 24-72 hour period.
